For heavy machinery repair and fabrication needs, Unico Mechanical is able to provide on-site machining and welding services, including on-site milling facing, line boring, grinding and pipe fitting. We also provide rigging and drilling. Our mobile milling equipment features a work envelope of 120" x 15" x 15", and is able to meet on-site machining needs for all of the facilities. We also work frequently with power plants, refineries, manufacturing, paper mills, shipyards and municipal customers.
Our welding services cover all types of welding process: MIG/GMAW/FCAW, TIG/GTAW, orbital, spray, and submerged arc welding, and we can weld material up to 6" thick. Our experience an all on-site machining processes covers both conventional metals and exotic metals, including Hastelloy, Monel, and titanium. Contact Unico Mechanical for a consultation, quote, or additional information. |

| Arc/Resistance Welding Process |
FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) This process uses similar equipment as GMAW but in place of standard solid wire uses wire consisting of a steel electrode surrounding a powder fill material.
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) Also known as metal inert gas or MIG welding.
GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) Also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. This process uses a nonconsumable tungsten electrode, an inert gas and a separate filler material. This process is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Heliarc welding.
MIG Metal Inert Gas welding, also referred to as Gas Metal Arc Welding.
Orbital Also known as Tube Arc Welding, this process is used for the circumferential welding of tubes, pipes and round stock.
SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) Also known as Manual Metal Arc Welding or Stick welding. This process uses a consumable electrode rod, which as the filler material, that is covered in flux that protects the weld area from oxidation and contamination.
Spray Spray welding is a process where weld material is sprayed onto a workpiece. This process can be used to apply wear and heat resistance coatings and to build up worn areas.
Submerged Arc Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) is a welding process in which the arc is struck beneath a layer of flux which increases arc quality and blocks atmospheric contaminants.
TIG Tungsten Inert Gas welding. Also referred to as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. |
