maintenance machinist & Onsite Field Services

Unico Mechanical provides skilled labor for onsite routine planned maintenance needs or for emergency unplanned outage support. We also help customers reduce maintenance costs by evaluating equipment onsite and identifying opportunities to increase productivity and MTBR. Serving both new and existing facilities, Unico Mechanical works onsite frequently with power plants, refineries, manufacturing, paper mills, shipyards and municipal customers providing:

Specializing in rotating equipment including pumps, blowers, gearboxes, valves, conveyors, compressors and other industrial equipment, we bring decades of experience to every project. We cover a full range of maintenance machinist and onsite field services to keep equipment running safely and smoothly including:

  • Project planning and inspection
  • Rigging, leveling and lagging of all equipment
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Pipe fitting
  • Onsite equipment that allows for milling, line boring, grinding, drilling and anchoring
  • Mobile milling equipment with work envelope of 120” x 15” x 15”
  • Maintenance services and preventative maintenance service contracts
  • Facility upgrades
  • Manpower support for any industrial equipment repair, installation or other onsite service

Our technicians are equipped to provide all installation and upgrade services with both efficiency and the care required for expensive machinery. Just a few of the types of systems and equipment we install include: pumps, blowers, gearboxes, turbines, conveyor systems, cooling towers, generators. In addition, we work with boom lifts, flatbeds, forklifts, scissor lifts, steel and swivel dollies, and plasma cutters. Whatever the needs of your facility are, we can meet them. We offer expertise in production lines and plant support equipment, and provide relocation and installation of rotating equipment.

Our onsite welding services cover all types of welding process: MIG/GMAW/FCAW, TIG/GTAW, orbital, spray, and submerged arc welding, and we can weld material up to 6" thick. Our experience an all on-site machining processes covers both conventional metals and exotic metals, including Hastelloy, Monel, and titanium. Arc/Resistance Welding Process FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
This process uses similar equipment as GMAW but in place of standard solid wire uses wire consisting of a steel electrode surrounding a powder fill material.

GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
Also known as metal inert gas or MIG welding.

GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
Also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. This process uses a nonconsumable tungsten electrode, an inert gas and a separate filler material. This process is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Heliarc welding.

MIG
Metal Inert Gas welding, also referred to as Gas Metal Arc Welding.

Orbital
Also known as Tube Arc Welding, this process is used for the circumferential welding of tubes, pipes and round stock.

SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
Also known as Manual Metal Arc Welding or Stick welding. This process uses a consumable electrode rod, which as the filler material, that is covered in flux that protects the weld area from oxidation and contamination.

Spray
Spray welding is a process where weld material is sprayed onto a workpiece. This process can be used to apply wear and heat resistance coatings and to build up worn areas.

Submerged Arc
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) is a welding process in which the arc is struck beneath a layer of flux which increases arc quality and blocks atmospheric contaminants.

TIG
Tungsten Inert Gas welding. Also referred to as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
